The courtyard of the Palais Conti

The courtyard
In the courtyard, onto which the Museum opens, the busts of four kings, whose innovations were of particular interest to minting :
Henri II, Louis XIII, Louis XIV and Louis XV, can be seen in niches over certain recesses of the peristyle.

The coin museum
The Museum is housed in the former minting workshops which were moved to Pessac (near Bordeaux) in 1973. Reopened to the public in 1988, its design is very modern : it combines materials such as metal, wood and glass. Of special note : the coins are set in glass walls, which allow both faces to be seen.
This Museum constitutes a wonderful open book on the history of France, from Antiquity to the present day.
