Celebrate Your Birthday at la Monnaie!
Invite your friends and come celebrate your birthday at la Monnaie for 1 ½ hour!
This original activity starts with a tour of the Museum. Children discover
the various stages of medal striking and create within a tailored workshop
their own medal to bring home afterwards. The birthday child receives a tee-shirt
of la Monnaie de Paris as a gift.

Creative Workshop Creation for 8-12 years old
The museum lecturer starts the tour with a visit of the museum (1/2 hour)
and presents engraving and striking techniques while emphasizing the various
stages of the engraver’s work and showcasing his office on the 1st
floor of the museum. During the second part of this activity, children create
a medal from their own design and strike it on a paraffin coin. At the end
of this workshop, children receive the medal they created and a booklet on

For children chaperoned by their parents, workshops are the 2nd Wednesday
of each month and during school recess, by reservation only.

Creative Workshop for 5-7 years old
Create your own medal and take it back home with you! One of our guides
animates this 1 ½ hour workshop. He teaches children the origins of
money and coins, their use, the various metals they are made of and how they
are struck. Children familiarize themselves with the techniques of hollowing
out a medal design and inverse image. Children create a medal in silver paper
from a medal in resin, which they can then bring back home. By reservation

Tour Discover the Museum (1 ½ hour)
This tour enables children from 7 to 12 years old to learn the history of
France through its coin history from its early origins to the Euro. A quiz
booklet is provided to teachers and students.
During the visit of the museum, children learn while having fun the history
of France through its coins with a quiz booklet. A museum guide leads school
groups to complement this visit with additional information. This tour is
