The Palais Conti - façade

The Seine
The Palais was built facing The Louvre, at the point where the Seine is widest : the two branches surrounding the Ile de la Cité join up again in front of the façade of the Hotel de la Monnaie.

Quai Conti
Two palaces on one riverside road : side by side on Quai Conti are the Hotel de la Monnaie and the Institut de France (home to the Académie Française), between the Pont Neuf bridge and the footbridge called the Passerelle des Arts.
The building is comprised of a main body 117 metres long and 27 metres high, overlooking the Seine, flanked by two side wings on the rue Guénégaud and impasse Conti.

The façade, main body
Neo-classic in style, the façade has a fore-part made of five arches.

Above, six Ionic pillars support an entablature which is itself topped by an attic.

Six statues personify Prudence, Abundance, Fortitude, Justice, Peace and Commerce.
